Cartridge-free printing at the cheapest entry. The Smart Tank 5001 (5D1B7A) prints, scans and copies from refillable ink tanks, shipping with about 6,000 black and 6,000 colour pages of ink already in the box.

Key Features

  • Ink comes in bottles poured into fixed tanks, so there are no cartridges to buy and no cartridge chip to be rejected.
  • About 6,000 black and 6,000 colour pages of ink in the box, which is where the running-cost saving actually comes from.
  • Prints, scans and copies in a 5.03 kg body with a 1200 dpi flatbed scanner.
  • No automatic duplex, no Ethernet and no document feeder. Two-sided printing means re-feeding by hand.
  • Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz single band, so it will not use the 5 GHz side of a dual-band router.

Ideal For

  • A home office or student printing a few hundred pages a month who wants the lowest cost per page.
  • Anyone tired of cartridge prices: third-party bottled ink is not firmware-blocked on this range.
  • A shop counter needing print, scan and copy and nothing more.
  • Buyers who do not need a feeder or duplex; the 6003 adds both for about 60 dollars more.
